How To Keep Hydrated At 30 Weeks Pregnant

Tips every new parent should know

At this stage baby’s eyes are almost always blue! But they may change in colour either before birth or during the first 6 months of life. Their head is most likely still up but in the next few weeks they will move into the birthing position with their head down.

Your baby’s development

At 30 weeks your baby will probably weigh around 1.3kg, that’s the size of a large cabbage.

As you might expect, there’s a lot of accelerated development at this time.

Your baby’s lungs and digestive tract are almost fully developed. Your baby will begin to mimic breathing movements, by moving their diaphragm and they may even get hiccups, which can be felt as rhythmic twitches in your womb (uterus).

Although they will spend around 80% of their time asleep, your baby will continue to open and shut their eyes. When they are awake, they’re turning regularly and can be either in the head down or breach position.

Your Body

As you and your baby continue to grow, you’ll need to keep up your intake of both fluids and fibre. It can be common to get constipated at this stage, so try drinking around 8 glasses of fluid a day. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. This could be a sign that you’re already dehydrated.

Urinary infections can also occur during the latter stages of pregnancy, especially cystitis, which feels like a burning sensation when you urinate. If you think that you may have a UTI, it is important to talk to your doctor without delay. It is also important to drink plenty of water, and go to the toilet as often as you need to, to help flush out any infection.
