Babymoon Ideas: Plan Your Getaway

Babymoon Ideas: Plan Your Getaway

Get tips for planning the perfect babymoon, and enjoy some time out with your partner before your baby arrives.

Why go on a babymoon?

A babymoon is high on the agenda for many expectant couples. And for good reason – it is a wonderful opportunity for you and your partner to enjoy some quality alone time before you become new parents.

Think of your babymoon as a relaxing, romantic getaway that helps you and your partner to reconnect and recharge the batteries before your little one arrives. It’s a chance to pause in the midst of doctors’ appointments, shopping for the baby, stocking up the freezer and more – and simply enjoy the moment.

Tips for planning the perfect babymoon;

1. Time it right

Most couples choose to take a holiday in the second trimester of pregnancy. Morning sickness has hopefully abated by then, and you should have a lot more energy during these middle months.

Try not to leave it too late. As your bump grows, travelling can become more uncomfortable. Besides, some airlines won’t let you fly with them when you are more than 28 weeks pregnant.

2. Think about the travel arrangements

A round-the-world holiday shouldn’t really be the goal of a babymoon. Instead, aim for one beautiful location where you can completely unwind and de-stress.

Consider the practicalities of getting from A to B – ideally, you’d want non-stop flights and then an easy transfer to your destination. And don’t be afraid to ask for an aisle seat on the plane. Let’s face it, you’re likely to make more trips to the bathroom than most.

3. Treat yourself to a deluxe room

If the budget allows, treat yourself to a room with a king-size bed and plenty of comfort. Sleeping when you are pregnant is tough enough at home – on your babymoon you’ll want a beautiful bed to sink into, with extra pillows to support your body and a quiet location where there’s hardly even a need for a Do Not Disturb sign.

4. Schedule some ‘me time’

Once your baby arrives, there will be fewer and fewer moments in your life for ‘me time’. Your babymoon is the perfect opportunity to do things that make you feel great. Book a facial, read a book from cover to cover, or schedule a pregnancy massage. Whatever makes you feel good.
