Get ready for take-off!

It’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness when travelling with toddlers, and flying with little ones is no exception. With a little preparation you can make the trip not only manageable, but memorable too.

To ensure a smooth journey it’s important to pack a well-stocked carry-on bag that holds everything you need to keep your child comfortable, entertained and happy during the flight.

For your carry-on bag, go for a backpack or tote bag that’s comfortable to carry and will fit easily under the seat in front of you.

Check out our guide to packing smart for toddler-friendly flights below.

Travelling with a toddler carry-on luggage checklist

Keep them busy – pack a mix of toys, colouring books, and possibly a tablet loaded with their favourite shows to keep them entertained. It’s a good time to introduce toys that are new to them or that they haven’t played with for a while.

Don’t forget their comfort items – a favourite blanket or snuggly toy will help keep your little one relaxed and ease any nerves.

Change time essentials – Pack a stash of nappies, baby wipes, and a change of clothes handy. Accidents happen, and you’ll be relieved you’re prepared. Pack an extra set of clothes for yourself, just in case.

Snack time – Be sure to have a variety of healthy snacks on hand, like crackers and fruit, to keep your toddler happy and full throughout the flight.

Hydration is key – Bring their sippy cup and a spill-proof water bottle – sipping during take-off and landing can help with ear pressure.

Toddler milk supplement sachets – Travelling can disrupt their regular eating habits and you may find it tricky to get your kids to eat well. Having a milk supplement on-hand will ensure your child always has a reliable source of nutrition and it can also be comforting for them to have something
they recognise.

Every feeding journey is unique

Not every parent can produce breast milk. No matter what choice you make, we will support your unique feeding journey.

We at Nutricia believe in providing the best nutrition for babies, which is why we recognise breast milk is uniquely superior for babies as it provides many benefits. It is important that mums have a healthy diet to support breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed, or partial bottle feed, may reduce breast milk supply making it difficult to reverse. The cost and social implications of using feeding methods should be considered. Always seek professional advice about feeding your baby. Ensure formula is used as directed as improper use can affect baby’s health.

REMEMBER: The information on this page is general only. If you have any concerns about your baby’s poo or questions about constipation or any other health concerns, please speak to a healthcare professional, like a Pharmacist, GP or Maternal Child Health Nurse.
